Go Green Every Day at Summer Crest Apartments in Anaheim

Nearly one billion trees worth of paper is thrown away every year in the United States. Not only is our paper consumption ruining our forests and leading to wide deforestation, but it also contributes to landfill volume, air pollution, litter, and water toxins. As you can see, paper waste has negative effects on every area of the environment.

Here at Summer Crest Apartments , we want to do all we can to go green and promote sustainable living—not just by reducing our use of paper, but also by saving on water. Here are three ways we live sustainably at Summer Crest.

We Reduce Our Water Use

Anaheim is prone to droughts, so we do all we can to cut back on water usage. To start, our property has drought-tolerant landscaping. This means we use plants—like succulents—that don’t require much water. We have also installed a drip irrigation system and replaced some grass and mulch areas with beautiful stone. This allows us to save gallons of water on landscaping!

We also save on thousands of gallons of water indoors. Our plumbing system uses less water than your typical plumbing system. Most toilets use about 3.5 gallons of water every time they flush, but not ours! We have low-flow toilets , which use about 20 percent less water than regular toilets. Each low-flow toilet can surprisingly save up to 13,000 gallons of water per year.

We Cut Down on Paper and Plastic Waste

Our team at Summer Crest chooses to go green by going paperless. We do everything that usually uses paper—rent payments, service requests, applications, and notices—online. Not only is this more convenient for our residents, but it also eliminates the need for excessive paper waste.

In our community, we strive to provide quality services to help make your life as a resident a little easier. Visit our new resident portal to pay your rent online, enter a maintenance service request, browse our calendar for upcoming activities, and much more!

In addition to our online system, we have installed a water bottle refill station and encourage our residents to use it whenever needed to significantly reduce the waste from plastic water bottles.

We Encourage Recycling

One of the best ways to go green is to recycle. We have recycling bins in our office, and we encourage all residents to recycle as well. You can recycle items such as flattened cardboard, plastic bottles and containers, empty cans, and paper. However, make sure you do not recycle food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating.

If you would like to recycle, you can take your recycling to Anaheim Recycling Center , which is located a short drive away from Summer Crest. This small change in habit can make a huge difference for our planet, especially if we all work together!

We’re Excited to Announce Organic Waste Recycling!

Organic waste recycling will be coming soon to our local community, and we can’t wait to participate! This initiative will help keep millions of pounds of food waste out of landfills and turn them into compost and renewable natural gas.  We’ll keep you up to date as this program expands throughout the state.

We want to do everything we can to take care of the environment and go green. If you are looking for an apartment complex that cares as much about the planet and sustainability as you do, Summer Crest apartments might be the perfect place for you!
